Biography

Zachary Mascarinas is a Filipino baritone recognized for his powerful artistry, warm timbre, and vibrant stage presence. He has been praised for his ability to bring both humor and emotional depth, described by Mark Ross as “expressive, beautiful, and… showing mastery of the nonsensical homily.”

Based in Southern California, he has performed with several esteemed companies and festivals, including Pacific Opera Project, Lyric Opera of OC, Opera Italia, Valley Opera & Performing Arts, Miami Music Festival, and Chicago Summer Opera. Recent highlights include Papageno in Die Zauberflöte with the CSULB Opera Institute, Marcello in La Bohème with Opera Italia, and Figaro in The Ghost of Versailles with the Miami Music Festival. Upcoming engagements include Ping (cover) in Turandot with Pacific Opera Project, Frank in Die Fledermaus with Opera Italia, Escamillo in Carmen with Valley Opera & Performing Arts, and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte with Opera Seme.

Zachary is also an emerging artist of distinction, having won the 2025–2026 Bob Cole Conservatory of Music Voice Concerto Competition, First Place in the 2025 Southern California Philharmonic Young Artist Competition, Second Place in the 2025 Whittier Regional Symphony Young Artist Competition, and Third Place in the 2026 Opera Buffs Artists of the Future Competition. He is also a recipient of the Martin Figoten Performing Arts Scholarship at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, where he studies with Dr. Jennifer Sung.
